Welcome to Owlets R!
Happy New Year everyone!
Time for new adventures in Owlets class.
‘Off on a cold adventure!’ is our topic this half term. We will pack up our back packs and fly off to the polar lands of the world. Spotting penguins and polar bears, arctic foxes and orca. We will dance like penguins and cuddle up to polar bears. We will explore ice and snow. We will make up stories and invent new characters.
We will be sharing the book - 'Penguin Small' by Mick Inkpen.
Every morning we have fun with Fred Frog practising and learning new sounds and words in the Read Write Inc sessions. We will be continuing to learn letter sounds, including 'special friends' sounds. We will begin to read 'Ditty' passages (phonically decodable passages based on the letter sounds already taught.)
Following this we have communication time,, when we listen to a story and answer questions about it. We have Magic Maths, learning new mathematical knowledge in a fun way followed by book time and writing. In the afternoon we have story time, rhyme time and Vocab Ninja! Each afternoon has a different focus - Re, Music, Woodland Adventures, P.E. Circle Time, Our Wonderful World, Healthy Heroes, Create and Imagine and lots more! Finishing off the day with Key Person time, where children have a chance to chat, have a healthy snack and to review the day's learning. We learn in our inside and outside classroom in all weathers!
PE Day - Every Friday - We are focusing on functional motor skills in our PE lessons. Running, jumping, hopping, throwing and catching. We talk about the changes that happen to our bodies when we do exercise.
Outside Adventures - Every Thursday - We like to investigate the environment around us including the woodland area on campus and our local environment.
