It is the second half term in reception and time for new adventures!  Owlets have done so well settling into school life and really got into the Superhero theme – it was great to see them all dressed up for Superhero Day.

Our theme this half term is ‘Magical Mayhem!’

We will be thinking about all things magical – wizards, witches, elves, fairies, flying reindeer, potions and so much more!  We will be really using our imagination to create magical worlds.

 We will be answering the learning challenge questions – How does magic work?  What goes on in Santa’s Workshop?

 Our focus books we will be sharing together will be             

We will explore the woodland area and be talking about Autumn, nocturnal animals, natural materials and adventure time.  We will paint, make music and use our imagination to make up stories and dances. We will be focusing on the school values Respect, Ambition, Acceptance and Resilience, and the British Value of Democracy.  We will focus on understanding that everyone has a voice and that we can make fair decisions by listening to others and voting.

Every morning we have fun with Fred Frog practising and learning new sounds in the Read Write Inc sessions. With our Super Sonic listening skills we will be - Tuning in to sounds, listening and remembering sounds and talking about sounds.  We will focus on oral blending – saying the sounds together and hearing the words.

Following this we have communication time, we might listen to a story and answer questions about it or turn ourselves into a character from a story or playing a language game.  We have Magic Maths, learning new mathematical knowledge in a fun way followed by book time and writing – Squiggle Whilst We Wiggle, Mega Movement and Dough Disco.   In the afternoon we have story time, rhyme time and Vocab Ninja! Each afternoon has a different focus - Re, Music, Woodland Adventures, P.E. Circle Time, Dance, Drawing Club, Our Wonderful World, Healthy Heroes, Create and Imagine and lots more!  Finishing off the day with Key Person time, where children have a chance to chat, have a healthy snack and to review the day's learning.  We learn in our inside and outside classroom in all weathers!

PE Day - Every Thursday - We are focusing on functional motor skills in our PE lessons.  Running, jumping, hopping, throwing and catching.  We talk about the changes that happen to our bodies when we do exercise.

Outside Adventures - Every Friday - We like to investigate the environment around us including the woodland area on campus and our local environment.
