Welcome to Owlets

It is the very first term at school and we are going to have lots of exciting learning adventures!
In our first few weeks at school the children will be settling in and learning different routines. We will be talking about how to respect school and keep safe around school. We will be teaching the children how learn with the resources in the indoor and outdoor environment. They will be making lots of new friends.
Our theme this half term is ‘Superheroes.’

We will be thinking about what special super powers we might have and investigating our super senses. We will talk about caring for others. We will be answering the learning challenge questions – Are we all the same? What do I look like? What do my body parts do? When is my birthday? Who is in my superhero family? We might even have a super hero visit!
Our focus books we will be sharing together will be -
We will explore the woodland area and be talking about Autumn. We will paint, make music and use our imagination to make up stories and dances. We will be focusing on the school value of Respect, encouraging children to share, take turns, saying please and thank you and looking after our resources.

Every morning we have fun with Fred Frog practising and learning new sounds in the Read Write Inc sessions. With our Super Sonic listening skills we will be - Tuning in to sounds, listening and remembering sounds and talking about sounds. Our superheroes will be taught to say and recognise initial letters sounds of words.
Following this we have communication time, when we listen to a story and answer questions about it. We have Magic Maths, learning new mathematical knowledge in a fun way followed by book time and writing. In the afternoon we have story time, rhyme time and Vocab Ninja! Each afternoon has a different focus - Re, Music, Woodland Adventures, P.E. Circle Time, Dance, Drawing Club, Our Wonderful World, Healthy Heroes, Create and Imagine and lots more! Finishing off the day with Key Person time, where children have a chance to chat, have a healthy snack and to review the day's learning. We learn in our inside and outside classroom in all weathers!
We have supervised toothbrushing every day and learn about keeping healthy. If you would like further information regarding this click at the bottom of the page for the parent pdf.

PE Day - Every Thursday - We are focusing on functional motor skills in our PE lessons. Running, jumping, hopping, throwing and catching. We talk about the changes that happen to our bodies when we do exercise.
Outside Adventures - Every Friday - We like to investigate the environment around us including the woodland area on campus and our local environment.
