Autumn 1

We hope you had a lovely and restful summer break and are excited for a brand-new year! Here's all of the exciting things we have planned this half-term!

English

In English, we will be reading Marcy and the Riddle of the Sphinx. We will be using this wonderful story as inspiration to write a setting description and a set of instructions.

Reading

Our class novel this half-term is the twisted fairy tale, Rumaysa.

History

Our history topic this half-term is: Exciting Egyptians! We will be learning all about this amazing civilisation and answer important questions such as: why was the River Nile so important to the Ancient Egyptians, what are pharaohs and what is the process of mummification? We will even be creating Canopic Jar sculptures in Art.

Science

In Science, we will be grouping and classifying living things. We will be investigating invertebrates and vertebrates as well as flowering and non-flowering plants. We will be conducting an observation experiment over time of the living things within our local area.
