5- Jays
Welcome to Jays 5!
Teacher: Miss Jackson
Teaching assistant: Mrs Akhtar
We hope you all had a lovely Easter break and are ready for all the exciting things we have planned for the last term in Year 5!
In Reading, our class novel is The Last Wild. We will also be reading some fascinating non-fiction texts linked to Science and Geography as well as some thought-provoking poetry.
In English, we will be using the story The Invention of Hugo Cabret to a set of instructions on how to build an automaton, similar to the one in the story.
In History, we will be investigating Crime and Punishment through the ages. We will be learning all about what crime and punishment was like in Roman times, the Anglo-Saxon period, Tudor times and the Victorian period. We will also be learning about modern-day crime and punishments.
In Science, we will be investigating reversible and irreversible changes. We will be using experiments to explain solubility and how to reverse these reactions.
This half-term we will also be going swimming every Thursday. Please ensure your child has their swimming kit that day.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to come and speak to a member of our team.
