5- Jays
Welcome to Jays 5!
Teacher: Miss Jackson
Teaching assistant: Mrs Akhtar
Welcome back!! We hope you had a wonderful Easter. We can't wait to hear all about it! This year will be full of excitement, new experiences and new challenges. We have some fantastic topics this half term, that we have no doubt you will love.

In Reading, we will be reading Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is about a girl called Alice who follows a White Rabbit and falls down a rabbit hole into a magical world. In Wonderland, she meets strange characters like the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat and the Queen of Hearts. Everything is silly and confusing, but Alice uses her courage and curiosity to get through her adventures. The children are familiar with the author as we studied The Jabberwocky last half term.

In English, we will be delving deep into Monster Slayer: A Beowulf Tale by Brian Patten. After reading the story, the children will innovate their own complete legend narrative as well as an explanation text. This text is exciting and full of action.

In Geography, we will be looking at The Americas. We will explore North and South America and what makes them unique. We will also be looking into the physical and human features of each continent.

In Science, we will be investigating the Life Cycle of different classes of animals. We will be delving deeper into each stage and picking out the main features. We will also compare the life cycles of birds, insects, amphibians and mammals. We will hopefully be observing the real life cycle of butterfly in class.
