Welcome to Swallows 2!

Autumn Term 2 2026

Welcome back everyone.
We hope you all had a fabulous half-term break and are ready for Autumn 2. 

Our Geography-led topic this half-term is 'Our Wonderful World.'  We will explore the continents and seas and learn about the climate and famous landmarks.
            We will investigate endangered species.  ​In DT we will explore different wraps from around the world.   We will learn how to prepare food in a safe and hygienic way, as well as how to identify foods from different food groups and use them to complement each other.

In English, we are reading the text: ‘Jack and the Baked Beanstalk.'  We will explore fairytales with a twist.
We will innovate our own stories using talk for writing and story maps. ​ We will also be looking at 'instructions.'  We will write instructions on 'How to grow a sunflower.'​

    In maths, we will learn how to add and subtract.​  We will then move onto the Shape topic.​

P.E. Monday afternoon and Wednesday morning.

Please make sure that your child has the correct kit in school.

How you can help... listen to your child read every day, talk about the text and any new words you find! Log in to Oxford Owl and help your child find their ebook. If your child is in the guided reading group, they should change their book at least once per week. Please sign their reading record book. For maths, practise counting forwards and backwards in steps of 2, 5, 10 from zero.
