Meet our Chair of Governors

Afrasiab Anwar

My name is Afrasiab Anwar and it is my great honour to be Chair of Governors at Barden Primary School, a school that serves the community that I grew up in and have close connections to. I am passionate about education and raising the aspirations of our pupils and families. In my day job, I am employed at Lancashire County Council Education Improvement, as a Team Leader in the Equality & Diversity Team. My other roles include serving the people of Burnley as an elected councillor (currently leader of Burnley Council) as well as supporting local charities as a Trustee including Lancashire Council of Mosques, Burnley FC in the Community and Building Bridges in Burnley.
