Welcome to Robins 1!

Welcome back to another exciting and busy half-term. We hope you all had a lovely half-term break.   This half-term, our topic is 'We're all going on a summer holiday'. Our focus topics are History and Art. In history, we will be learning about holidays; comparing now and in the past.   In Art, we are going to be learning all about printing, shade and tint, creating a final piece of work using all these elements.   

In English, we use a narrative to help us with our learning.  We will be using the story  'How to train a train' and other Thomas the Tank engine stories to support our learning.  The children will be exploring and innovating a narrative to create their own version of a known story.  Our non-fiction focus for this half-term will be creating an information text about trains.

In year 1, all of our children access Read Write Inc. meaning children will have the opportunity to read and develop their spelling on a daily basis.  In the classroom, we have a wide range of literature that the children can access in the reading corner.  The books we provide are diverse and set an appropriate level for our year 1 children to enjoy. 

PE

PE days are Monday and Wednesday every week.  The children need to make sure they have their PE Kit in school every day. For this half-term, the children will be developing our striking and fielding skills as well as our athletics skills.

Please ensure your child has a pair of wellies in school.
