Welcome to Robins 1!

We hope you have had a lovely break over the half-term!

This half-term, our focus topics are Geography and Art. For our Geography topic this half-term we will be learning about hot and cold places. We will be exploring where different hot and cold climates are around the world and the features of these. Our Art topic this half-term is Sculptures. We will be looking at the work of Brendan Jamison, and we will be creating our own sculptures from clay.   

In Maths we are exploring place value within 20, ensuring we are confident with our numbers up to 20. We will also be looking at addition and subtraction within 20 too. 

In English, we use a narrative to help us with our learning.  We will be using the story 'Lost and Found' to support our learning.  The children will be exploring the book, discovering the characters and writing their own Lost and Found story.

In Year 1, all of our children access Read Write Inc., meaning children will have the opportunity to read and develop their spelling on a daily basis.  In the classroom, we have a wide range of literature that children can access in the reading corner.  The books we provide are diverse and set an appropriate level for our Year 1 children to enjoy.

PE

PE days are Monday Afternoon and Wednesday Morning every week.  The children need to make sure they have their PE Kit in school every day.  For this half-term, the children will be developing their skills in learning how to throw a ball overarm accurately, and we will also look at some dance. 

Wellies
Please ensure your child has a pair of wellies in school.  

Reading:

Please remember to read with your child. All children will have something in their bag which they bring home to read :)
