Welcome back! We hope you have had a lovely break and are ready for the new term!
Maths
This half term, we will be focusing on multiplication and division and length and perimeter in our main maths lessons. In addition, every afternoon we will take part in maths fluency sessions, where we will explore each times table in depth.
These sessions are designed to support the Year 4 Multiplication Check in June, so it’s vital that children also practise regularly at home. We will be using TT Rockstars in class to help with this, and you’ll find a link below so children can continue their practice at home as well!
English and Guided Reading
Our class novel in Guided Reading this half-term is 'The Wild Robot'.
In English, we are basing our learning on 'The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind'. We will be writing a biography to recount the life of William Kamkwamba and a diary entry to recount a key event in the day of William Kamkwamba.
PE
Our PE days are Mondays and Thursdays. Please be aware that your child's PE kit will remain in school until half term. We will be swimming on Thursday so, Swimming kits need to be brought in throughout the week and taken home at the end of the day on Thursday.
Science
In science this half term, we will be learning about 'Sound'. In this unit, We will learn about the ear, investigate sound, explore pitch and volume.
