Welcome back! We hope you have had a lovely break and are ready for the new term!
Maths
This half term, we will be focusing on Decimals and Money in our main maths lessons. In addition, every afternoon we will take part in maths fluency sessions, where we will explore each times table in depth.
These sessions are designed to support the Year 4 Multiplication Check in June, so it’s vital that children also practise regularly at home. We will be using TT Rockstars in class to help with this, and you’ll find a link below so children can continue their practice at home as well!
English and Guided Reading
Our class novel in Guided Reading this half-term is 'The Firework Maker's Daughter'.
In English, we are basing our learning on 'The Wishgranter'. We will be writing a full narrative to entertain the reader and spark their imagination. We will also be writing a non-chronological report to inform the reader about different types of good luck charms from around the world.
PE
Our PE days are Mondays and Thursdays. Please be aware that your child's PE kit will remain in school until half term. We will be focusing on Outdoor Adventurous Activities and Boccia.
Science
In science this half term, we will be learning about 'Habitats'. In this unit, we will initially understand what a habitat is. Then, moving on to understanding the difference types of habitats, urban and rural. We will also be focusing on classification keys and deforestation.
