Welcome to Robins 1!

Welcome back to another exciting and busy half term. We hope you all had a lovely Easter break.   This half-term, our topic is 'Our local area'. Our focus topics are geography and DT. In Geography, we will be looking at our local area using a different range of maps and exploring what our community has to offer.  In DT, we are going to be learning all about wind turbines, looking at why they are useful and how we can make one of our own.  

In English, we use a narrative to help us with our learning.  The story we are using is No-Bot. The children will be exploring and innovating the narrative to develop their own version of the story.  Our non-fiction focus for this half term will be creating a fact file on a famous landmark in Burnley. 

In year 1, all of our children access Read Write Inc. meaning children will have the opportunity to read and develop their spelling on a daily basis.  In the classroom, we have a wide range of literature that the children can access in the reading corner.  The books we provide are diverse and set an appropriate level for our year 1 children to enjoy. 

PE

PE days are Monday and Wednesday every week.  The children need to make sure they have their PE Kit in school every day. For this half-term, the children will be developing the fundamental movement skill of overarm throwing.

Please ensure your child has a pair of wellies in school.
