Today, we used a range of sources to explore how successful the vikings were. We used books, videos, photographs and the internet.We looked at the different factors of the Viking's ruling to determine how successful they were. We looked at the length of stay, the army, their targets, their boats and the amount of land they acquired.
Drop everything and read!
Today, our teddy bears joined us for our lessons! In the afternoon, we stopped lessons and read a story together. The bears had a lovely day! Thank you to all parents/carers for sending them in for the day.
We became news reporters today. We used a range of news techniques such as: on location reporting, press conferences, news desk style and interviewing eye witnesses. We acted in role as reporters, whilst other members of our group became key characters in the Pied Piper.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
Today, we produced a model of the human skeleton. We drew round a member of our group and then used Ipads to research and label the bones.
Roman Numeral Hunt!
We hunted around the classroom for Roman Numerals. We worked hard to decode them and then we shared our knowledge with the rest of the class.
Newspapers: True and False Game
Today, we have created our own games. We read news articles and decided on four true statements. Then, to devise false statements we edited parts of the article to try and trick the players of the game. They had to read the article and decide which of our statements were true and which were false. Every pair created a different game, so we also spent time evaluating after playing.
Re-telling the story of the Pied Piper!
We retold the story of the Pied piper from different perspectives including the Piped Piper, the Mayor and the town's people. We then performed to the whole class and assessed each other.
Measure in Maths!!
Using a range of measuring equipment, we estimated and then measured objects in and around the classroom. We measured accurately and checked our estimates. See the pictures below!
Problem Solving in mathematics!
We used team work to tackle challenging word problems in maths. We shared ideas and used whiteboards to show our working out. When we had finished we shared our answers as a class and explained how we knew the answer was correct!
