It is Wednesday.  Yesterday was .....?   Tomorrow is.......?

How many days are there in a whole week?  Can you say them in order?

What is the weather like today?  Maybe you can pretend to be a meteorologist like the people who present the weather on the radio or the television.

It is P.E. this morning.  Time to get your sports clothes on as fast as you can.  If your clothes are the wrong way wrong or the sleeves are the inside out try to remember what we do to solve the problem.

Getting changed for PE.wav

Today in P.E we are going to focus on catching and throwing.  If you have a ball in the house that is great.  However if not get some socks and make a ball with them.

Frist a warm up - let's play the beans game

run around and when your adult says a type of bean do the correct movement -

running bean - run fast

jumping bean - star jump

long bean - long and tall shape

broad bean - star shape

beans on toast - lie on the ground

chili bean - wrap your arms around your body and move them up and down like you are cold

jelly bean - wobbly like a jelly

I hope you are nice and warm now.

Now for the skills

Get a ball and throw it into the air and try and catch it. Start off low and as you get more confident throw it higher.  Remember that you must watch the ball and have your hands out ready to catch it.

Next throw the ball back and forth to your partner.  Remember to look at where you are throwing - aim at your partner's hands.  How many times can you throw it back and forth without dropping  it?

Another task you might want to try is to throw the ball at a wall and catch it (outside!).

Well done.

Time for a snack now to put that energy back into your body.

Letters and Sounds Time

Why do we learn letters and sounds?  To read and write.

Let's go over the sounds that we have learnt so far.

letters and sounds intro.wav

We learnt the word  'I' last week.  This week we are going to learn a new word.  The word 'go,'  it is a tricky word - that means you cannot use the sounds to read it, you have to remember what it looks like.  Let's say it together

go

Say it to the floor, say it to the ceiling, say it to the window, say it to your hand.

Have a look at the shape of the word, try and lock it in your mind.  Close your eyes can you see it?

Open your eyes.  Can you think of a sentence that has the word 'go' in it?  A sentence is a group of words that makes sense.  Try and think of 5 sentences.

Well done!

In 'People and Communities' this week we are going to continue thinking about celebrations.  One of my favourite things to do for my children's birthdays is to make a celebration cake.  You can have a special celebration cake for any occasion - have a look below -

A birthday cake -

A wedding cake

A cake for Eid

A cake for Divali

A cake for Easter

A cake for a Harvest Festival

A cake for Hanukkah

It is your turn now - draw a picture in your book of a celebration cake that you would like.

It is Rhyme Time!  Let's learn verse number 6.

Hickory Dickory Dock,
The mouse ran up the clock.
The clock struck one,
The mouse ran down!
Hickory Dickory Dock.

Hickory Dickory Dock,
The bird looked at the clock,
The clock struck two 2,
Away she flew,
Hickory Dickory Dock

Hickory Dickory Dock,
The dog barked at the clock,
The clock struck three 3,
Fiddle-de-dee,
Hickory Dickory Dock!

Hickory Dickory Dock,
The bear slept by the clock,
The clock struck four 4,
He ran out the door,
Hickory Dickory Dock!

Hickory Dickory Dock,
The bee buzzed round the clock,
The clock struck five 5,
She went to her hive,
Hickory Dickory Dock!

Hickory Dickory Dock,
The hen pecked at the clock,
The clock struck six 6,
