Tuesday 6th October - Morning

Bore da!  Can you remember what language it is?  That is right - Welsh.  When I was little I had to answer the morning register in welsh as I lived in Wales.  If you wanted to visit Wales you could get there by car, bus, or train, or you could fly by aeroplane but it would be a very short flight.  You could walk or ride a bicycle there but it would take awhile!

Let's sing the Days of the Week song, shall we try it with clicking fingers today - it is quite tricky to do.

It is the second day of the school week today.  Yes it is Tuesday.  What day was it yesterday?  Monday.  What day will it be tomorrow?  Wednesday.

Today it is Tuesday 6th October 2020.  Remember there are 31 days in the month of October so there are a lot of days left.  I wonder who has a birthday in October.  Do you know what month your birthday is in?

Wake Up and Walk - Let's do some dancing - one of my favourite things to do.  Let's dance with Otis Boogie Beebies.

It's Letters and Sounds time.  Why do we need to learn letters and sounds?  That's right ... so we can read and write.

Let's have a look at the sounds we have learnt so far -

Letters and sounds intro Tuesday.wav

It is time for a new sound.  'm'

Think about your favourite meal and rub your tummy saying 'mmmmm.'

Can you think of any words beginning with m?

Let's have a look at how we form 'm,'

Take off, down and zoom over the moon and mars, flick.

Get your magic finger ready - draw it in the air, draw it on the floor, draw it on your hand.  Practise writing it with your finger in rice or flour.  If you are ready have a go writing it in your book.

Listen to the words I say and spot the ones that begin with the 'm' sound.

How many did you hear?

Well done.  When you read your Bug Club book later see if you can find any 'm' words.

We were comparing sizes of objects in our Maths' lesson yesterday.  Today we are going to meet some characters in a story that are different sizes.  Do you know any stories with different size characters?  There are a few different ones.  We are going to read the story of the 'Three Billy Goats Gruff.'

Intro to The Three Billy Goats Gruff.wav

Now that you have listened to the story I would like you to draw the characters from the story and cut them out.  Don't forget that there needs to be a BIG billy goat, a MIDDLE-SIZED billy goat and a Little billy goat. Next make a bridge out of something at home.  Can you tell the story using the characters? It would be great if you could use different voices for the characters.

Now it is time for a story.  I have found a similar story to the Three Billy Goats Gruff it is called 'The Three Billy Goat's Fluff!'  I hope you enjoy it.  Maybe you could think up your own story about the Three Billy Goats or the Troll.  My children really enjoy stories that we make up together.
