Reception Class New Starters September 2020

School Starts this week - we are so excited to see you all.

You should have received an email telling you which class you are in and the following information -

We would usually come and visit you and your child in your home before they start school, unfortunately this year due to the present Covid-19 situation we are unable to undertake home visits.  Instead we will be giving you a telephone call on Wednesday 2nd September to give you the opportunity to ask any questions and give you any updates before your child starts on Thursday 3rd September.
We usually take a photograph of your child with their family on the home visit so that they have a family face/faces on the wall ready for them to see when they come into class.  As we cannot take a photograph this year please can you send a photograph of your child with their family and send it to me on this email.
Starting School - The first 2 days
All reception children will start on Thursday 3rd September at 9:30 a.m. One parent will be able to take your child down to the Reception classroom, you will also be able to do this on Friday 4th September.  Sadly, you will not be able to go into the classroom due to restrictions at this time with Covid-19, but don't worry, we will make sure your child is happy and settled.  You will need to collect your child from the school gates at 2:40 p.m.
From Monday 7th September children will start at 8:40 a.m. You will need to drop your child off at the school gate at 8:40 a.m. and we will walk your child down to their classroom. Your child will finish school at 2.40 p.m. and you will need to wait at the school gates for us to bring your child to you. Sadly, during this time, you are unable to come onto the school premises. This is a temporary measure and we hope to welcome you back very soon indeed.
First Day at school
Your child will need to be wearing Barden School Uniform - white polo shirt (it is advisable for your child to have a short sleeved polo shirt as it means they do not have to roll up their sleeves to play in the water or to paint), purple jumper/cardigan, grey/black trousers/skirt or a grey pinafore, black/grey socks/tights/leggings and black, flat sensible, safe shoes.
They will need to bring wellington boots (that will be kept in school).
They will need to bring a P.E. kit - white t-shirt, black shorts or close fitting leggings and plimsolls (pumps) in a named bag.  (To be kept in school)
Please ensure that all clothing and footwear is named.
Hairstyles must be sensible and appropriate for school
Hair accessories must be small and in Barden uniform colours.
Hair gel is not permitted in school.
Jewellery is not permitted in school (including earrings).
No make-up or nail varnish should be worn.
Please ensure that all clothing and foot wear is named.
For more information please read the uniform and appearance policy available on the school website.
School Lunch
Your child will have a school packed lunch - they can choose from Cheese, Jam or Tuna.  It is important to email with your child's sandwich choice as orders will be put in at the beginning of the week.

Thank you for choosing our school for your child.  It is an exciting time in your child’s life and we are over-joyed to be part of it.

We know in the present situation (Covid 19) you may feel a little uncertain about what will happen next and you will no doubt have lots of questions for us.  Please be reassured your child’s introduction to our school is very important to us and we are working on plans to ensure it is a positive experience for all the children we are lucky enough to have in our care in September.

We hope that the information on this website will answer some of your initial questions.  If you have any questions please email Mrs Worthy (EYFS Team Leader) -
