Welcome toBarden Primary SchoolONLY MY BEST IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME

Proposed SEN Unit at Barden Primary School

Barden Primary School has been offered the exciting opportunity to provide a Special Educational Needs Unit for pupils with social communication and interaction needs. The proposal is to create an SEN unit for between eight and sixteen children. All of these children and young people will have education, health and care plans. Some of these children and young people will transfer from another school to Barden Primary School so that they can attend the SEN unit. There may also be places available for pupils at Barden Primary School should they meet the admission criteria for the SEN unit.

Our proposed unit will be housed in the old Thomas Whitham Sixth Form building. Children attending the SEN unit will be taught in the unit for some of the time and at other times they will be taught with other children in existing classes. Here is a link to the statutory notice on Lancashire County Council's website

All children already on roll at Barden Primary School will still be able to attend the school and this change will not affect current admission criteria.

I have included a booklet which enable you to respond to the consultation should you choose to do so. If you would like a paper copy of this booklet - please do not hesitate to ask the school office.

We need to hold a virtual meeting during the consultation period to which families, staff, governors and other interested parties should be invited. The purpose of this meeting is to provide further information about the proposal should you wish to attend.
