Our trip to Thornton Hall Farm
We had a wonderful time at the farm. We met, stroked and fed lots of animals. We had a ride on the caterpillar and played in the soft play area.
We now have lots of inspiration to help us with our persuasive non-fiction farm posters!
ANIMAL ANTICS!
Today, Corner Exotics came to show us some amazing animals. We have found out about where these animals live and how they are adapted to their habitat. We got the chance to hold and touch these amazing creatures and had fun with some follow-up activities back in class.
Madhia said:’ I loved the animals. I thought the snake would be wet but it wasn’t.’
Aaminah said: ‘I felt a bit scared at first but at the end I even touched the lizard!’
Well done, Swallows for being so brave and embracing the experience!
FITNESS WEEK
Today we ran around the race track. Half a mile, two circuits! We were amazing runners!
Computing
Today we have programmed the Beebots to find a place on the map.
English
This week we have started to read our new story ‘Way Home for Wolf’. We worked with our teacher to describe what we think wolf characters are like. We decided they are mean, sly and like to trick other story characters!
Making Predictions...then we met Wilf the wolf cubling. We decided he was different from the ideas we had about wolves. We thought he looked cute, lonely and guessed that he was lost. He was peeping behind him with a sad expression on his face.
Grammar Skills
We are learning to use and to join to sentences together. Look at the sentences we have made!
Learning Challenge
Our new topic is Brilliant Burnley. We had our wow wow lesson this week. We painted and sketched famous Burnley landmarks like the Singing Ringing Tree and Towneley Hall. We went on a treasure hunt around the yard and matched questions to answers. Then we looked at Burnley on a map using Digimaps. We really enjoyed taking our first exciting steps into our new topic.
Transition Days
Here are some photographs of our new Swallows during their transition days before the summer break. All the children tried so hard and we are looking forward to seeing them make amazing progress!
