We have been learning the numbers 1 - 5 and ordering them.

We have been finding out what makes the numbers e.g.   2+3=5 and 1+4=5.

We have been learning to add one more and take away one less.  We are beginning to read and write number sentences - 

5                +              1                =                6

Five  and/add/plus   one   is the same as     six

We have been learning about flat shapes, how we can see how long and wide they are.  We have been talking about how many sides they have and using the mathematical names for corners - vertices. We have been making shape pictures and drawing shapes with rulers.

This week we have been focusing on the numbers 1. 2 and 3.  We have looked at what each number is made up of and recorded this.  We have compared the numbers and used the words - greatest, smallest, less and more.
