Welcome toBarden Primary SchoolONLY MY BEST IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME

Autumn 1 Maths

We have been learning about pattern. Spotting patterns in our environment, continuing patterns and creating our own patterns.  Why not go on a pattern walk in your own home or your local environment?

Try this pattern game -

Tall and Short

We have been comparing the height of objects.  We learnt that the Eiffel Tower is a very tall building!  Who is the tallest in your family?  Try the game below -

Long and Short

We have been comparing the length of objects.  We have been using the vocabulary - short, shorter, shortest, along, longer, longest, length and compare.

Comparing

We have been learning to compare.  Big and Small.  We have been comparing amounts.  More and Less.  Many and Fewer.

You could support your child by getting different objects around the house and compare them, ordering them from the smallest to the biggest.  Put the objects into two sets and compare to see which set has more and which has less.

You might like to play this game -

We have been learning how to match and sort objects.

You can get objects from around the house and try and sort them into, colour, size or even shape.

You can sort the socks from the washing pile into pairs.

Here is a game you might want to play.
