Blackbirds Homework

Reading

Reading is the best way to support your child. It helps develop their vocabulary, imagination and writing skills. We encourage children to read at home every day for at least 10 minutes. When children reach 5 signatures in their reading record, they will receive a raffle ticket with a chance to win a ticket to the Reading Tea Party with Mrs Holgate. It is expected that each child will read one book per week, depending on the size of the book.

Most children will receive a book banded book, pitched to their reading level. We also encourage the children to take home and read books from our Year 4 Reading Challenge. These high-quality and exciting books will really help support children in their reading ability as well as promote their love of reading!

Times Tables

Times Tables Rock Stars: Play

In Year 4, children will take the Multiplication Table Check - an assessment to test their times table knowledge. Therefore, it is essential that every child learns their timetables at home. Each week, we will assign a times table activity to help support their knowledge.

If children need their login for this, please ask.

Spellings

Children will receive a list of spellings weekly to be learnt at home. We will test these spellings every Friday in class.

Please find below the spellings list for Autumn 1.
