What is Pipits class?

At Barden, we are committed to providing an inclusive and supportive environment where all pupils thrive. In response to the diverse needs of our children, we are establishing provision in our school for pupils who are currently unable to fully access mainstream provision.

Purpose of the Provision:

The aim of this new class is to deliver high-quality, individualised educational support to children with complex learning difficulties, communication needs, or developmental delays, ensuring they receive the best first quality teaching, interventions and support. These children will benefit from smaller class sizes, a more personalised curriculum design and a structured environment designed to meet their specific needs. By focusing on developing their cognitive, social, emotional and communication skills, we aim to bridge the gap between their current abilities and the requirements of mainstream education.

Key Objectives:
  1. Individualised Learning Plans (ILPs): Every pupil will have a personalised plan aligned with their EHCP, which addresses their unique needs and sets clear, achievable goals.

  1. High-Quality Teaching: Staff trained in special educational needs (SEND) will use evidence-based teaching approaches and communication strategies to ensure maximum progress is achieved.

  1. Social and Emotional Support: In addition to academic growth, the class will focus on social integration, helping pupils develop relationships with their peers, emotional regulation skills and a positive sense of self.

  1. Progression to Mainstream Provision: The ultimate goal is to equip pupils with the skills, confidence and resilience necessary to rejoin mainstream education or parts of it, as soon as they are able, ensuring a smooth transition supported by ongoing collaboration with parents, external specialists and mainstream teachers.

Class Timetable

PE & Forest School

This half-term, Forest School will be on a Monday and PE will be on a Friday. Children's PE kits should remain in school until half-term, when we will send them home.

Reading

Please try to read with your child at home each night. It really supports the work we are doing in school. When you read with your child, please sign their reading record. Your child is working towards winning exciting prizes, including a ticket to visit Mrs Holgate's tea party! We love to know what you're reading at home too, so if you and your child read something else for a bedtime story or just for fun, record this too!

We are here to help. If you need support, please let us know.

How can you help?

Lots of parents ask how they can support their child. We find that children who read at home regularly are more likely to progress and thrive in our school. We recommend that children read at home every day.
