We hope you all had a lovely half-term and are ready for all the exciting things we have planned for the last half term in Year 5!

In Reading, our class novel is The 1,000 Year Old Boy by Ross Welford. We will dive into the life of Alfie, who is over 1,000 year old. All he wants is a friend but that is not so easy. We will be exploring the vocabulary within this story, as well as using our reading skills to analyse it. 

In English, we will be continuing with the story The Invention of Hugo Cabret. We will be creating our own mystery story and using our year 5 writing skills to write our final piece of the year. 

In Geography, we will be investigating land use across the UK. We will be learning all about the difference between urban and rural land and its uses. Additionally, we will be creating our own sketch map based on the land surrounding school.

In Science, we will be investigating animals including humans. We will be looking in detail at each part of the human life cycle. We will also be looking at gestation periods and lifespan in animals.
