Welcome to Wagtails 2!

Summer Term 1 2026

Our geography-led topic this half-term is 'Brillliant Burnley.'  We will be finding out about the different types of houses in our local area, the jobs people do and the role of a town councillor.  In DT, we will be evaluating an existing product and then designing and making our own brilliant Burnley bag. We will use the running stitch and investigate different ways of joining materials. 

In English, we are innovating our own adventure stories based around the film Bubbles by Gabby Zapato.

 In Maths, we will be measuring length and height, mass, volume and temperature.

We will then move on to fractions.

Our Class Novel is 'The Truth Pixie' by Matt Haig.

How you can help... listen to your child read every day, talk about the text and any new words you find! Log in to Oxford Owl and help your child find their ebook. If your child is in the guided reading group, they should change their book at least once per week.  Please sign their reading record book.
For maths, practise counting forwards and backwards in steps of 2, 5, 10 from zero.

PE:

Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure that your child has their PE kit in school. This should not be taken home until the end of the term, unless it needs washing.
