Welcome to Wagtails 2!

Summer Term 2 2026

Our History-led topic this half-term is 'The Great Fire of London.'  We will be finding out about the Great Fire of London, how it started and why it spread so easily.  In Art, we will be investigating collage and the different techniques that we can use. Our final masterpiece will be a Fire of London collage in the style of Lieve Verschuier.

In English, we are reading Vlad. We will find out all about a character and write a character description. In our non-fiction writing, we will be writing an explanation text which tells the reader why the Great Fire of London spread so easily. 

In Maths, we will be following directions, working with money and reading data from a range of graphs.

Our Class Novel is 'Paddington' by Michael Bond.

How you can help... listen to your child read every day, talk about the text and any new words you find! Log in to Oxford Owl and help your child find their ebook. If your child is in the guided reading group, they should change their book at least once per week.  Please sign their reading record book.
For maths, practise counting forwards and backwards in steps of 2, 5, 10 from zero.

PE:

Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure that your child has their PE kit in school. This should not be taken home until the end of the term, unless it needs washing.
