Welcome to Wagtails 2!

Autumn Term 2 2025

Our geography-led topic this half-term is 'Our Wonderful World'.  We will name the seven continents and research the climate, landmarks and the endangered animals living there. We will locate and name the five oceans. We will use a range of maps, digital maps and atlases to help us.  In DT, we will be evaluating an existing product, designing and making wraps from around the world. We will learn about food groups and complimentary foods to help us make good, delicious choices. 
In English, we will be writing a part-narrative based around the story 'Jack and the Baked Beanstalk' by Colin Stimpson. In our non-fiction unit, we will write a set of instructions: 'How to Plant a Sunflower'

 In Maths, we will be developing our calculation skills.

Our Class Novel is 'The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark' by Jill Tomlinson.

Daily Reading:

Children are expected to read five times a week, as per the English Lead's advice. Parents/Guardians should sign their children's Reading Record when they have read with their children. Please access Oxford Owl to read with your children online, as well as reading their book bag book.

Times Tables:

This year, children will be introduced to the 2, 5 and 10 Times Tables. We will regularly practise these in class and will also teach the children songs to remember them. Please, where possible, could you encourage your children in learning these.

PE:

Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. Please ensure that your child has their PE kit in school. This should not be taken home until the end of the term, unless it needs washing.
