Welcome to Swallows 2!

Spring Term 1  2026

Our history-led topic this half-term is 'Space Invaders'.  We will learn about Neil Armstrong and find out how he contributed to international achievements.  In DT, we will be evaluating an existing product, designing and making moon buggies. We will explore wheels, axles and the chassis. We will use this knowledge to build a movable vehicle that can travel on a bumpy terrain. 
In English, we will continue to write our part-narrative based around the story 'Jack and the Baked Beanstalk' by Colin Stimpson. In our non-fiction unit, we will write a set of instructions: 'How to Plant a Sunflower'

 In Maths, we will be developing our shape and money skills.

Our Class Novel is 'Meet the Maliks-The Cookie Culprit' by Zanib Mian.

P.E. Tuesday morning  and Wednesday afternoon.

Please make sure that your child has the correct kit in school.

How you can help... listen to your child read every day, talk about the text and any new words you find! Log in to Oxford Owl and help your child find their ebook. If your child is in the guided reading group, they should change their book at least once per week. Please sign their reading record book. For maths, practise counting forwards and backwards in steps of 2, 5, 10 from zero.
