WELCOME

Welcome to Year 4. Please read through the information below to help you and your child understand all that will be happening during our school year. If you have any questions please speak to one of the team.

READING

In Year 4, we want children to develop a love of reading. To support them on this journey we will be reading a class novel, exploring a range of texts in English and concentrating on specific reading skills during guided reading. To help your child at home please listen to your child read at home a little each day. To encourage a love of reading we are happy for your child to read a range of texts to you at home, including newspapers, library books, comics or magazines. However, please make sure that at least twice a week your child reads their scheme book on Bug Club. Your child should be confident in accessing Bug Club at home and have their own personal log in. Should you have any problems, please email us. We hope you will support us in helping your child grow into a confident reader.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Please note that P.E. is on Tuesday and Wednesday. Please ensure your child has the correct kit in school to enable them to participate confidently.  

HOMEWORK

Homework will be uploaded on a Friday, this should be completed by the following Thursday. You can return the homework by emailing it to us at kingfishers4@barden.lancs.sch.uk. We will also ask the children to learn their weekly spellings and a specific times table per week. Please see the booklet on the homework page. Occasionally, we will ask you to complete family learning projects; these are designed to be enjoyable for all the family, whilst supporting your child’s learning.  Please support your child with their home learning as much as possible and if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to speak to us.
