At the start of the afternoon of 17th SEPTEMBER 2020, I was contacted by a parent of a child in Skylarks (3) to inform me that their child has tested positive for Covid-19. The child was not in school on this day. The parents of all the other students in the child’s class (Skylarks class), have been contacted and all children and staff in this class have been sent home this afternoon and told to self-isolate for 14 days. The rooms where the class have been taught are to be deep cleaned immediately. No other student bubbles in any other year group have been affected.

In addition to our resources we have added a link to Oak Academy with extra resources to support home learning which you might find useful. This is extra to our class learning and does not need to be completed as it may not be suitable for all our learners but your child might enjoy the activities. Oak Academy provides videos and quizzes to help support learning whilst at home.

In Year 3, we like to promote a love of reading. Throughout the year, we will be encouraging your child to read with independence; leading to a real love of reading for pleasure. Please listen to your child read a little every day. Your child can win a reward when we have a parent signature in your child’s reading record book. Your child will be reading from a scheme, the library, during guided reading sessions and hopefully they will join book club! Library sessions are on Wednesday, please can we have books ready to hand back on this day. Your child can independently change their scheme book once they have finished and discussed it with us. Children can also borrow books from our classroom reading area if they want to!

We will send homework out on a Friday ready to be handed in the following Monday. Sometimes we might ask you to complete ‘open’ project style activities which your child will be given longer to complete. We will let you know. Your child may also be given spellings/times tables to learn and extra learning for English and Maths. Please support your child with this. We will run a weekly prize draw for the best effort!
