At the start of the afternoon of 17th SEPTEMBER 2020, I was contacted by a parent of a child in Skylarks (3) to inform me that their child has tested positive for Covid-19. The child was not in school on this day. The parents of all the other students in the child’s class (Skylarks class), have been contacted and all children and staff in this class have been sent home this afternoon and told to self-isolate for 14 days. The rooms where the class have been taught are to be deep cleaned immediately. No other student bubbles in any other year group have been affected.

Welcome to Year 2
A new beginning! The children have settled so well and are getting back into the routine of school life. They are learning lots already and are really developing in confidence each day. We are really enjoying teaching them and can't wait to watch them grow as keen learners. Talk to your child about what they have been learning, I'm sure they will have lots to tell you. Photographs and a timetable are on the way soon. Let us know if you have any questions and thank you for helping your child prepare for their return to school.
Please read through the information below to help you and your child understand all that will be happening in our school year.
We encourage lots of reading in Swallows2.
In Year 2, we like to promote a love of reading. Throughout the year, we will be encouraging your child to read with independence; leading to a real love of reading for pleasure.
Your child needs to bring their reading book to school every day. Their book will be changed once a week.
We will hear your child read each week in a guided reading session. We will record in their home reading book when they have read at school.
Please try and listen to your child read everyday, signing their reading record each time you listen to them and add any comments you wish regarding your child's reading.
Reading books will be handed to groups of children during this week.
Your child will have spellings to learn each week. They will have a test every Friday.
Your child should read their reading book every day.
Your child will receive topic homework each half term. They will be given a range of tasks and can choose to do as many as they wish. This should be returned to school the Monday of the last week in the half term.
Your child will be given their maths Rockstars log in soon so that they can practise their times tables at home.
If you need any support with homework, please ask!
P.E. will be on a Tuesday and Thursday.
