We hope you had a fabulous half term and you are now ready for another exciting, action packed half term in year 6. 

This is our final full half term before we sit and complete our SATs tests. We are so proud of the work you have done so far and know you will continue making your best better! We always embrace the challenges we face and will be enthused by all the exciting areas of the curriculum this term. 

Let’s make this another amazing half term!

In English this half-term we will be looking at the work of William Shakespeare with a particular focus on Romeo and Juliet. We will immerse ourselves into the land of fair Verona and explore the characters and the long lasting feud between the Montagues and Capulets.

The children have started reading our new novel this half term titled 'Wonder' by R. J. Palacio. The story centers around August, born with facial differences and a genetic condition that required him to have twenty-seven surgeries. Because his health was unstable, his mother home-schooled him through fourth grade. During August's first year at Beecher Prep, he has many new positive and negative experiences.

In Georgraphy, we have started exploring trade and economics in the United Kingdom. We will explore imports and exports, how ours compares to other countries with a focus on El Salvador. We will also gain an understanding of what Fairtrade is and the postive impact it can have on communities across the world. 

In Maths, we are currently mastering our knowledge of units of measure. The children will then move onto Ratio and Decimals units which will lead them to the end of this half term. It is so important that the children have rapid recall of their timetables.
