Welcome to Sparrows 1!

Welcome back to school! We hope you had a brilliant Easter and Eid! We are looking forward to another action-packed term as we go into Summer.    For this half-term, our focus topics are Geography and DT. In Geography, we are exploring our local area, exploring where we live, becoming familiar with OS maps and learning all about the cardinal points of a compass.  In DT, we are looking at the brilliant invention of a wind turbine.  We will be looking at its origin and how we can use different methods of cutting, rolling and joining to make our very own Barden wind turbine. 

In English, we are using a narrative to help us with our learning.  The story we are using is No-Bot.  The children will be exploring and innovating the narrative to develop their own version of the story.  

The children have really enjoyed the books we have been engaging with in class. The texts we have been reading go into our reading corner for them to access when they want to.

PE is on a Monday and a Tuesday every week.  The children need to make sure they have their PE Kit in school every day. For this half-term, the children will be developing the fundamental movement skill of overarm throwing, developing and applying the skill in different situations.  We will also be taking part in striking and fielding, focussing on cricket.
